Define the Migration Boundary
Write down the intended change, affected directories, areas that must not change, and compatibility requirements. Identify entry points, callers, configuration, data formats, and relevant tests; mark unknowns as questions to resolve. This gives the work a reviewable boundary instead of asking a tool to transform an entire repository at once. Also decide how you will recognize an incomplete migration, such as a remaining call to an old interface or an unconverted configuration value.
Supply Relevant Repository Context
Provide only the files and constraints needed for the current step: nearby implementations, dependency rules, architecture notes, and the project’s documented test and formatting commands. Remove secrets, personal data, and unrelated content before sharing. If NexoToken model access is part of your workflow, use it to assist with a bounded task such as drafting a change or identifying candidate call sites. Treat suggestions as proposals: verify paths, symbols, and project conventions against the repository.
Generate and Review Small Patches
Ask for a migration outline and likely affected callers before requesting implementation. Apply changes in small, understandable groups, then inspect the diff line by line. Check signatures, error handling, logging, configuration, and edge cases against local conventions. Hypothetical example: if replacing an old interface with a new one, migrate one caller first, inspect its call chain, and then decide whether the same change applies elsewhere. Similar names do not establish behavioral compatibility; confirm that through project documentation and code.
Run Checks and Record Outcomes
Use the repository’s own instructions to run relevant tests, static checks, and builds. Record the commands, environment, checks that passed, and failures; do not imply a check ran when it did not. If something fails, determine whether the migration caused it, reduce the patch or add focused coverage, and rerun the appropriate checks. If a check cannot run, record the reason and leave it explicitly unverified. Before merging, review the full diff, the rollback approach, and risks that remain outside the checks you performed.
