Inventory what the client actually needs

Record client name and version, protocol requirements, address-field semantics, exact model identifier, and credential storage location. Display names may differ from callable identifiers, and a base address may or may not include a path. Check current client documentation. Support for a custom address does not establish support for every model behavior or tool protocol.

Separate shareable templates from local secrets. Store field descriptions and placeholders in the repository, while keeping credentials in approved secure storage or controlled local configuration. Review screenshots, logs, and support attachments for authentication material instead of routinely copying complete configuration into a ticket.

Validate one variable at a time

Begin with non-sensitive input and a minimally privileged test configuration. Add repository context, streaming, or tool behavior individually, recording the version, date, and observed outcome. Mark untested features unknown. A plain-text response does not establish complete client compatibility.

Investigate charging questions, transport failures, and client parsing failures separately. Check current official requirements and then client settings before repeating paid requests to guess the correct path. Tests should read only necessary samples and should not require sharing a real repository, administrator credential, or complete terminal history.

Leave a route to rebuild and recover

Maintain a secret-free checklist describing how to recreate the configuration, revoke test credentials, and return to the verified version. Repeat affected checks after a client upgrade or model change. Previous results do not establish indefinite compatibility. Assign configuration ownership when several people share a workflow so they do not overwrite each other’s local settings.

At task completion, inspect repository changes and ignored files for accidental secrets. Remove only confirmed disposable outputs belonging to this task, preserving other people’s environments. Verify current models, rates, and service information through official entries and account configuration. This procedure provides no official guarantee from any third-party client.
